personal Brand aestetic of a reiki healer in Bothell, WA

Have you ever been stuck on understanding what you want your branding images to look like? Maybe you haven’t fully defined your branding image aesthetic? You’re still trying to grasp at what your images will look like? 

This is an ok place to be! We’ve all been there. This is where I can help you flush out and understand your look. However, first and foremost make sure you are attracted to my portfolio. My brain doesn't do the fully bright, white and airy look and neither does it do the full dark and moody look, those vibes I just can't do,, even though I love looking at them, I just can't obtain those looks. I’ve got this long questionnaire of over 25 questions to help me to understand your business and who you are. After this I also ask you to make a Pinterest board and to either share that board with me or add me as a contributor. I ask you to pin images that inspire you. Look up keywords that relate to your line of work and see what images you find inspiring and wish were your images. 

You’d be surprised how much it can help you grasp what images you like, want and need for your own personal branding session. There typically becomes a pattern to the images that you like the most.

In the case of Jennifer Witten’s personal branding session, she wasn’t exactly sure what her image look was. She knew she needed more images of herself. Which is usually the case when someone comes to me for their first branding session. They understand the need to show their faces as the driving force of their business. Especially with small businesses people want to know you, they want to connect with you. You’ve got to show them why you are the right person to work with. Or even to dissuade the wrong type of person from working with you. 

Your images are to help you bring the right person to you.

Jennifer knew she needed images of her, the “headshots” that were personable and then working with the client images. She wanted to share what a Reiki session looks like with clients. After she was pinning her images she started to see what she liked. The mood of peace, tranquility, safety, also welcoming with smiles and showing hands and that energy transfer. 

She also shared with me an image of her space. This presented a mood as well, it has a nice big window, walls were lighter in color and supporting color pieces. That is a big indicator of well light images, but also with the pinned mood images making sure some of the light is also directional light. Had her space been darker, with warmer woods and her pin board different, I might not have used the flash in the same way or at all.

If you look also at some of the individual images you will see a 1 next to the star, those are her favorites and many of those she is more drawn to the brighter mood. All of the images and talking to her helped to me to decide to bring in a flash for her session. I wanted to soften the shadows, still keeping the shadows in images to help create that right mood, but not fully taking away all of the shadows from her images. A mix of window and flash fill light was used for her session.

For these type of documenting and behind the scene type of images I like to let them just do the work and see where is flows. It is extremely authentic, because I just move around capturing what is unfolding. Especially in an energy session like this, you just let it happen and it is just a beautiful experience.

I also have to say when a client wants to use cleansing smoke in their sessions, I get so giddy and excited to take those images. Working with smoke swirls is so fun to capture, you never know what you're going to get. I love the process and ritual of cleansing smoke.
