Seattle Area Network Event
In August I had this amazing opportunity to be a part of a Seattle area network event hosted by the fantastic Danica of Green Door Sound Bath. Danica has this wonderful vision of creating a community of women supporting women. Each month her events feature a few amazing ladies and their businesses. This gives us all the chance to really learn about those businesses and support them.
The month of August was featuring me, Kristina Pearl Photography, a small business branding photographer. I was there to give an option of taking headshots on Danica’s beautiful lake front property. Michelle Wright a hair and makeup artist and her assistant were also available for ladies who wanted to get makeup touch ups before their photos. Then Taylor at Thoughts & Thimbles was there with a table full of beautiful handmade jewelry to purchase for themselves.
This was the most amazing experience and I felt so humbled to have so many ladies willing to get their headshots taken with me. Below is an image of each amazing woman and a little about their business. I love supporting other businesses! After every branding session of mine (with permission) I love to share images from their session and also link to their business as well. You never know when you're going to help bring the right people together. After all, networking is all about providing connections not only within the circle but outside of the circle as well.
If you're a business woman within and around the Seattle area and you have the chance to attend a networking event hosted by Danica I highly suggest you attend and connect and build a community of supportive women. Nothing is more powerful than women supporting women as we all rise up in our businesses!
First let’s talk about Danica of Green Door Sound Bath. I went to her property the month previous to get some photos of her with her sound bowls as advertising images. I also wanted to know what lightening was in the potential areas to photograph. Her property ended up having an option of the lake as the background or greenery. Most chose the lake, but a few did want to try both areas out. Thankfully they were really close to each other so it was easy to just do a quick move to the green area and back.
Since this was mini mini headshot sessions I wanted to get to know each awesome business owner and their needs. My goal with these headshot was to understand their personality and show that with authentic and real images of themselves, I didn't want these to be anything like a studio plain background headshots. Each shot varies a little with each ladies' personality. I would definitely describe these sessions as speed dating, but honestly I loved every minute of it! Some ladies were extra prepared and brought props with them and that was just perfect, they really optimized this headshot opportunity to personalize it to them.

These are just some of the fantastic ladies at the event that I got to meet and photograph. Danica is creating such an amazing space for us to get to learn about each other and how to support others as well. It is a true community that she is creating and bringing together. If you are a woman owned business in Washington area from Tacoma to Everett and beyond, you should contact Danica and get to know the little supportive community she is building. If we bump into each other at one of the events, please say hi and introduce yourself, I get sometimes a little shy at these, but once I get in little groups I get more comfortable and chatty.
Oh one last business shout out to Susanne at Serenity Valley Flowers for providing gorgeous floral arrangements to August and September's event. I didn't get any close ups of the flowers, but you can see the arrangements on the table below.
Looking forward to seeing you there. If big events aren't your thing, let's meet up a little coffee shop to chat about our businesses and see how we can each support the other.
If you're interested in doing your own branding session and need updated headshots and lifestyle images for your website and social media let's chat as well. If you're an event coordinator and would like to get your event documented for advertising purposes reach out and well and let's chat.
