Service Providers Telling Patient or Client Stories
Service providers' biggest storytelling comes in the form of showing who their patients or clients are and how they will help them.
In a branding photoshoot our intent is to show variety and diversity. While everything we learn about marketing tells us to focus on one client avatar, that isn’t always realistic for service providers who do work with a diverse range of patients or clients. This range can be based on age, race, ethnicity, family status and even income level.
For Dr. Ksenia Popov an in-home veterinary care service branding photoshoot, our focus was patient diversity. The home location we selected was a home that offered a variety of spaces within 1 house.
Dr. Popov works with both cats and dogs. Now getting multiple cats to a new house was a little more challenging, but we managed. The dog models were easier. She also specializes with pets "who have chronic pain, IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), arthritis, post-operative recovery and other conditions that impact their quality of life."
When we were talking about what animals to use for models she wanted a Dachshund for the IVDD conditions.
Each patient went through multiple service offers that she provides, but each pet didn't do every offer.
In photoshoots with 1-2 clients I will typically have them go through every service offer.
The Cats
An important note for both animal and human (mostly kids) patients. With cats, animals and young kids they can’t always be reasoned with or coaxed with goodies to do what we want or need them to do during photoshoots. I’m always adjusting and photographing what they will do. For kids, that is generally a shorter time frame. In the case of 2 of 3 of these cats, it was only doing a few minutes of interacting with Dr. Popov and the owner (my sister).
Even the owner was a part of the storytelling of patients, just like having the parent of the child sitting in the scene with their child during their appointments. The owners are a piece of the pet's story.
The Older Dogs
The older dogs tell the story of old arthritic joints, IVDD and chronic pain. We can see it in their calmer demeanor, white hairs on their face and the knowledge that with older age typically comes more pain.
The Younger Dogs
The young dogs aren’t always pain free, just like humans we can have surgeries young from playing our favorite sport and needing therapy post-operation. Not only that but some breeds are pre-disposed to having a higher risk for hip dysplasia or other breed specific issues. Age isn’t the only reason to get regular care.
After this photoshoot, I now have a new obsession, animals in little goggles!
